Sutton and Merton Primary Care Trust

Sutton and Merton Primary Care Trust (PCT) piloted Activate Your Workplace from June 2007, as part of a Physical Activity and Sport Strategy between the PCT and the London Borough of Sutton.

Sutton and Merton PCT have over 1400 employees working in a broad range of job roles, but predominantly healthcare professions. Since the launch for Activate Your Workplace, engagement in the programme has continued to grow due to the popularity of activities provided.

Interventions that have been developed so far include exercise classes on every week day at different PCT sites (total of six evening and lunchtime classes) and a number of cycle promotion events and incentives. It is hoped Activate will help change the culture in the organisation and encourage Sutton and Merton PCT to be committed to improving workplace health now and in the future.
