Gate Gourmet is the world’s largest independent provider of airline catering and provisioning services. In September 2008 Activate Your Workplace recruited the Gate Gourmet branch in Heathrow airport.

Key successes have been the involvement of managers and general managers in assisting with and promoting the programme. Also, general awareness of the programme and of health issues among staff has been particularly encouraging.

Hema Patel, the Workplace Health Champion, has successfully set up a ‘Pedometer Challenge’, negotiated gym rates nationally for staff and developed a brand for a workplace health programme at Gate Gourmet, ‘Fit for Success’. There is also now a dedicated notice board for information on health and activities that are happening in the area.

Gate Gourmet hope to roll out Fit for Success to other units throughout the UK and make it part of their corporate policy.
